Brownie Bites

Brownie Bites

If you want regular brownies. use an 8 inch brownie pan and bake for 40 minutes. To make brownie bites, I used a Silpat tartlet pan on a cookie sheet. This makes it easy to pack them in a picnic basket.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 oz unsweetened chocolate chopped
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 or 2 drops orange extract optional
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 eggs at room temprature
  • ¾ cup all purpose flour

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat oven to 325°
  • If using an 8-inch brownie pan, spray with non-stick
  • Place place unsweetened chocolate and butter in a double boiler on low heat
  • Stir until melted and smooth
  • Remove from heat, let cool slightly, and stir in sugar, vanilla, orange, and salt
  • One at a time, whisk in eggs and mix until the chocolate mixture looks velvety smooth
  • Add flour and mix until blended
  • Pour into brownie or tartlet pan
  • Bake 15-20 minutes to make brownie bites or 40 minutes for regular brownies
  • Let cool

Notes

Get creative! Sprinkle with powdered sugar, crushed candy canes, or nuts.  Try adding chocolate chunks, nuts, or marshmallows to the full brownie pan version.
