Cedar Planked Salmon
On the grill or in the oven, this is a great way to enjoy moist, flavorful salmon.

Ingredients
- 1½ lb salmon wild caught
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- ¼ tsp fresh ground pepper
- ¼ tsp dill seed
- 1 lemon juiced
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- lemon and fresh dill for garnish optional
Instructions
- Before cooking, soak the cedar plank: 1 hour for oven, 2-4 hours for grill.
- Pre-heat oven to 375° or heat and prepare your grill.
- Place salmon skin-side-down on wet cedar plank. See notes below.
- Season with the salt, pepper, and dill seed.
- Drizzle the lemon juice and the olive oil over the salmon.
- Place in the oven or on the grill and roast about 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and cover with foil. Let rest for 10 minutes
- To serve, garnish with lemon and fresh dill.
Notes
You can find both cedar and alder planks at your favorite cooking stores.
It is important to soak them with each use to avoid a fire. I like to line my planks with herbs, onion, or lemon, then place the salmon on top. It infuses more flavor, and prevents the fish from sticking.
If my fillets are large, I place the plank on a baking sheet to prevent drips.
Cedar planks also work well with trout.
